Prismatic Diffusion Lens
A prismatic diffusion lens has a surface with a prismatic pattern, typically consisting of small, triangular or hexagonal facets. The effect of a prismatic diffusion lens with different beam angles can be seen in the image and can have the following impacts:
Directional Diffusion: A prismatic diffusion lens scatters and redirects light in various directions due to the prismatic facets on its surface. This creates a controlled dispersion of light, allowing for directional diffusion and the ability to shape the lighting pattern. The lens can be used to achieve specific lighting effects, such as accentuating architectural details or creating interesting patterns of light and shadow.
Glare Control: The prismatic facets on the diffusion lens help to control glare by breaking up the light and redirecting it away from direct view. The prismatic pattern effectively diffuses and spreads out the light, reducing the intensity and minimizing the potential for discomfort or visual impairment caused by glare. This makes the lighting more comfortable for occupants and improves visual clarity.
Sparkling Effect: The prismatic facets on the diffusion lens can create a sparkling or shimmering effect as light interacts with the various angles and surfaces of the lens. This effect adds visual interest and can contribute to a dynamic and lively atmosphere within the architectural space. It can be particularly appealing when aiming for a glamorous or festive ambiance.
Textural Variation: The prismatic pattern on the diffusion lens can introduce texture and variation to the illuminated surfaces. As light is scattered and refracted through the facets, it creates a play of light and shadow, adding depth and visual complexity to the architectural elements. This can enhance the perception of texture and create a visually captivating environment.
Directional Control and Beam Shaping: The prismatic diffusion lens allows for directional control and beam shaping, similar to a linear diffusion lens. The prismatic facets guide and shape the light in specific directions, enabling precise control over the lighting distribution. This can be advantageous when trying to highlight specific areas or create focused lighting effects.
Aesthetic Appeal: The prismatic diffusion lens can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of architectural lighting. The unique pattern and the interplay of light and shadow can create a visually striking effect that adds interest and character to the space. The sparkling and textural variation created by the lens can contribute to a sense of sophistication and visual allure.
They can provide directional diffusion, glare control, a sparkling effect, textural variation, directional control and beam shaping, and enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the lighting design.
Fitting a Lens
Fitting a Lens into a Levello product is simple.
For deep and directional fittings (plus versions are required) put the Lens in first, then the light source and secure with the spring clip provided.
For Low profile versions the lens fits in the recess of the magnet.
